[EN] Twenty-eight days, one cycle, and a chorus of voices with plenty to say about a woman’s body. In Olga Shiliaeva ’s play 28 Days, the protagonist tries to hear her own thoughts and feelings through all that noise. Anja Demidova stages the text as a reading in English, translated by Katherine Soloviev . The performance grows out of a week-long theatre laboratory. Seven actors work with the text, movement and masks that become their costumes on stage. The result keeps the openness of a reading while letting bodies and images do part of the talking. Shiliaeva’s play was shortlisted for the Lubimovka Festival in 2018 and nominated for a Golden Mask theatre award in 2020. Here it is brought close to the audience: an intimate, sometimes unruly look at what a month can hold.
