In der internationalen Garage-Rock-Szene sind sie ein heißer Geheimtipp, in Japan sind sie schon Stars und beim Major unter Vertrag. Sie haben mit ihrer Energie schon so manche arrivierte amerikanische Rock-Band in den Schatten gestellt. In schwarzen Slim Suits tragen sie ihr Haar in Mop-Tops wie die jungen Beatles.
THE 50 KAITENZ spielen 60er-Punk wie man sich es wünscht, und das in einer Perfektion, bei der einem schwindelig wird. Allein die Übergänge vom Refrain zur Strophe sind so geschickt platziert, dass man sich dabei ertappt, die obligatorische Luftgitarre zu spielen und ohne ein einziges Wort Japanisch sprechen zu können, die Songs lauthals intoniert. ザ50回転ズ spielen natürlich keinen reinen 60er-Punk. Ähnlich wie Turbonegro haben sie 70 Jahre Rock'n'Roll-Geschichte verschlungen und schamlos für ihre Zwecke eingesetzt. Ob Punk, Country, Garage oder Beat – alles wird unter die Lupe genommen, destilliert, gerührt, geschüttelt und wieder gerührt, um sich in respektloser Perfektion in den Gehörgängen zu entfesseln. Was dabei herauskommt, ist wohl das Eigenständigste, was man in den letzten Jahren in diesem sehr beackerten Bereich hören konnte.
2023 hat das Hamburger Label Sounds of Subterrania drei Alben der Band in Europa auf Vinyl veröffentlicht und bringt THE 50 KAITENZ 2024 nun endlich auch hier auf Tour.

Jonah gold and his silver apples
Jonah Gold & His Silver Apples started out as a three-piece in January 2010 with their first show at the legendary Bonn Stomp in BLA after barely three rehearsals in Granny Smith’s living room above a gym in a pretty noisy part of town. Initially they were playing a raw diet of Applecore, raunchy Rhythm & Booze, Psychobop and downhome Voodoobilly Rumble . Granny Smith bangs the drums, Dr von Boskoop plays bass, Jonah Gold strums his guitar and sings and soon they were joined by Maraca Mark Jackson aka Cpt Braeburn who would switch two guitar after two or three shows so that Jonah could blow his mouth harp. They released a single on their own label Gold & Appel in 2012 that was recorded in a pigsty and hardly noticed by anybody and only got a few plays in college radio, they did a couple of gigs, mainly in the Rhineland region but also in Berlin, Hamburg, London and Switzerland and in 2014 they put out an album on Off Label records: Jonah Gold and His Silver Apples Pollute The Airwaves sank like a piece of noble metal will sink in the deep blue sea. They even did a one week tour in Greece from Thessaloniki to Athens to promote the album but it was bound to be a flop. Now they are back with another turd, Jonah Gold and His Silver Apples Spread The Disease which was recorded live again and in mono on 8 track cassette tape and it will not be found in any record store as they are all closed and you won’t be able to catch them live as all the venues are shut down, too, and Rock’n’Roll seems as dead as theatre in 2021. If there is life left on earth, their new album Spread the Disease will infect you with this almost extinct virus and your life will be saved and it will be all right!
