Info
Antimeta started out in 2014 in singer Shleinus’ basement in Berlin as a punk fun project between 4 friends. 8 years later it is a 10 person experimental world/jazz/funk outfit with almost everyone studying jazz academically, but the punk attitude remained.
With 5 horns including clarinet, bass clarinet and 2 trombones combined with everyones influences from bebop and funk to broken beat, west african traditional music and soul, Antimeta has created ist own unique sound and style, with a lot of songs defying stylistic categorisation.
The sometimes complex compostions never sacrifice having a strong melody, a groove that moves you in a previously unknown way and a gripping emotional message. Shleinus’ unconventional lyrics don’t always give you an in-your-face message, but rather paint impressionist pictures, sometimes about dreams, fears and visions, sometimes simply embracing the bullshit, the sillyness and beauty in life.
Their often weird and crazy live performances, at times including sword fights, dance battles and scream therapy, add another layer to the overall experience that is Antimeta. It is truly something new and weird. But in a very fun way.
