Nanoplastics in our brains, plastic in the Arctic. Our practical, durable helper is everywhere, and production volumes are rising. As a product of the fossil-fuel industry, plastic pollutes nature as waste and through its breakdown products, while nano- and microplastics enter our bodies. Recycling does not work. We must reduce plastic volumes worldwide and switch to safe materials.
What does this mean for people, and what can we do? Who is actively working against the problem?

Approaches to counteracting the plastic crisis:
“Plastic-free food for everyone!” — This is the demand of the civil-society alliance Exit Plastik in a petition to the German federal government, in the interest of protecting public health. Micro- and nanoplastics, as well as chemicals from plastic packaging, can migrate into our food—and therefore into our bodies.
