Koaxula ist ein Klangaktivierungs- und Performance-Projekt der kolumbianischen Künstlerin Natalia Escobar und der mexikanischen Künstlerin Daniela Huerta. Mit Deslenguadas präsentieren sie eine multimediale Installationsperformance, die Peitschen als Klanginstrumente einsetzt und die Macht von Schlangengottheiten symbolisiert, die das Verschlingende, Verführerische und Giftige verkörpern, wie z.B. die Atztekischen Gottheiten Coatlicue und Tlazolteotl.
Der Überschalleffekt der Peitsche, die die Schallmauer durchbricht, symbolisiert die futuristische Macht dieser Gottheiten, die in einem zeitgenössischen Kontext neu interpretiert werden, wodurch von ihrer rein historischen Konnotation entfernt und ihnen eine neue Bedeutung verliehen wird. Deslenguadas ist eine mythische Reise zurück in das Reich der Wildnis, eine Wiedervereinigung mit ihrer dunklen, animalischen Seite und der verborgenen Macht der Großen uroborischen Mutter.•

Koaxula is a sound activation and performance project by Colombian artist Natalia Escobar and Mexican artist Daniela Huerta. With Deslenguadas, they present a multimedia installation performance that uses whips as sound instruments and symbolises the power of snake deities that embody the devouring, seductive and poisonous, such as the Aztec Coatlicue and Tlazolteotl.
The supersonic effect or sonic boom of the whip evokes a futuristic quality, reshaping and distancing the deities from their historical connotations, and imbuing them with new meaning. Deslenguadas is a mythical journey back to the realm of the wild, a reconnection with their dark animal side and the buried power of the Great Ouroboric Mother.
