The Mighty Stef - We want blood

Unbeabsichtig, aber mit besten Timing, hat der irische Troubadour THE MIGHTY STEF dieser Tage seinen Song „We want blood“ veröffentlicht und spricht damit vielen Iren aus der Seele.

Stefan Murphy (aka The Mighty Stef) zu seinem Song:
“This song was written in the early days of the economic meltdown in Ireland, long before things had gotten as bad as they are now. With the government willing to give up fundamental rights of the Irish tax-payer in exchange for a payout from the IMF / EU anger and concern has recently spilled over onto the streets. With the current government hugely unpopular, and their opposing or alternative parties just as bad, things don’t look very optimistic for Ireland. That’s why its important for the people to involve themselves in making their voices heard and shining a light on the situation for the whole world to see. This song is not about politics it’s about people. ‘We Want Blood’ is a documentation of the sadness and the fear of the ordinary person and a call for people not to roll over and play dead for these soul-less politicians to ruin the great spirit of the Irish people.”

Der Protest-Song wurde prompt von der Irish Times geadelt: „This should be our new national anthem!“ Das Video zur Single ist seit letztem Samstag auf Youtube zu sehen und greift die aktuelle Thematik ebenfalls auf.

„We want blood“ wurde bereits im Dezember 2008 in Berlin aufgenommen und ist die erste Single des am 14.01.2011 erscheinenden Albums „TMS and The Baptists“ von The Mighty Stef. Vom 25.01. bis 05.02. ist die Band auf Deutschlandtour.
