Bio
Jimmy G.
The first name says it all and implies a difficult legacy. Rarely does one find a multi-instrumentalist (and certainly not in Germany) who has mastered the guitar so incredibly well, as Hendrix did in his days. How can you make an instrument sound like that? Translate any human emotion into the musical language and tell stories through the instrument? Jimmy can and he proves it over and over again.
Jimmy G. was born in 1978 in the city of Rostock and discovered his passion for music very early on. After the fall of the Berlin Wall when Jimmy was just 11, the access to the best music of the world was open and Jimmy received his first Beatles record. This inspiration helped lay the foundation for his interest to play an instrument and then the guitar hanging on the wall in the living room came in handy. One of his strengths is the overwhelming desire for perfection coupled with the knowledge that only through practice can this be achieved. Driven by the desire of a small boy to become one of the “big ones” he quickly gained quite a reputation as a guitarist known for his technique and speed (Jimmy is one of the world's fastest guitarists). This went so far that he was practically stolen from his first band.
However, it is not enough for him to play just songs from others in various cover bands. He began to compose his own pieces, without being able to read notes, yet alone write music. Learning by doing was and is still his motto. The lack of similarly proficient musicians led him to learn other instruments. Today, Jimmy knows how to play almost every instrument. Drums, bass, keyboard and guitar are an essential requirement in any rock band that plans to produce a great album.
Perfectionists sometimes need a little longer until they find suitable partners who they can produce not only a good product, but also with whom they can connect with socially. So it took a while until Jimmy found the musicians best suited for him to start a band with. With his boys, or rather girls, “The Sisters of Groove ", a musical unit was formed that works like clockwork, that sprays incredible emotions and spark a fire that would even make Kiss look like a band of pyrotechnic clowns.
Jimmy does not just sacrifice himself for his music but even more for his fans because he is aware that they are really the engine of everything in the music industry. He has produced numerous fan videos so they can participate in his work and his life. After each show, he talks to his fans personally. "I am just a human being, a friend and buddy and only after that am I a musician." With authenticity, charm and a lot of humour, he has reached the hearts of the fans who thank him with their large attendance at his live shows.
Since 2001 he has produced an album every year. In 2011 another studio effort will be released, which will be accessible to a wider audience. Jimmy is currently working as a live & studio musician, composer, producer and coach in Berlin.
