Biography? For what? Whenever you’re “Standin’ at the window, looking down the street” and hearing rumours that this band might be a Beatle-Red-Hot-Chili-Pepper-Coverband, it might not totally be wrong but for sure not be true. ASK FOR SUGAR is a young band just releasing their second demotape. It is the first real record consisting of 4 studio-performed songs. Sometimes piano based, sometimes guitar based with heavy riffs in connection with Horns, these songs form a sound between classic rock and pop kept together by the unique voice of Holger Müller. While this demotape is still based on the sound ASK FOR SUGAR has developed in the beginning, the 4 songs hardly seem appropriate for this group of friends that first started playing 2 years ago. In the beginning, rock rudiments and cover of music history helped to find their own style, but now they “sing to get your attention” whether anywhere on radio or loud on stage.

What people understand under ASK FOR SUGAR is often not quite far from the weirdest imagination of human minds; it could be strange people asking for some white powder, a band I just heard once before or any other non-realistic phantasy where people get “lost in the daily world, lost and never found” … But the truth is that this black-and-white band combines different sounds like sax or trumpet with synthie- or guitarsounds. If it is a fast run through the keys by Holger Müller, a slapping bass by Jérôme Bergmann, it will again return to a highspeed classic Rock solo of Lukas Raith. By a strong rhythm section with Christian Heintz on the guitar and Phil Masur on the drums all songs receive a bumping and pushing fundament. Whether in front on the stage or behind the keys Holger always “sings it out, whatever he can”, crys out things and problems “he just needs to tell you”
