Murphy’s Law: “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” Last night at Murphy’s Law Leonberg it was the opposite. From a friendly surprise to making some new friends along the way with a bit of guest singing to round off the evening, everything that could go right, went right. Well everything except the terrible weather of course!

After enjoying 3 consecutive days of sunshine and fine skies in our region, with temperatures going up as high as 10° C, the clutches of cold came back. And this time it brought some friends along with it, namely rain and snow. We set off for our journey around 5 30 pm, after meeting up at Mo’s new apartment. It had already started to drizzle by then and was expected to get worse. By the time we were on ‘ze autobahn ja’ it was already pouring. The traffic is also usually heavy on the Karlsruhe-Stuttgart Highway. So it was a pretty challenging drive for Markus. Another challenge was actually finding the pub. After going around in circles for about 20 minutes, we were finally there. It’s a beautiful little pub, cozy atmosphere, not too big, which is the way irish pubs should be really, in my opinion. The location is also quite picturesque and in the summertime it would be the perfect place to just sit outside, relax and enjoy cold irish beer with your mates.

We unloaded our equipment from the car, set it up and did a little sound check to warm up. We then met Patrick, the owner of the pub and the person who had booked us for the evening. He was very hospitable and even offered us some food before we started. We were pleasantly surprised and actually quite thankful since we were starving by then. After finishing our portions of chicken wings and wedges, we got down to business. Our set remained pretty much the same as it was in Scruffy’s last week with the exception of a couple of songs here and there. The audience was mostly young and it seemed from their response that they could relate to our music quite well. I was a little disappointed after the second set where a couple of things didn’t go as planned. But in the ensuing break, my mood and that of the rest of the lads changed. A few from our audience came to us and commended our performance. They had thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were looking forward to the last set. We talked about music, similar tastes and what not and with renewed vigour began our final set. This was to be the most fun, whiskey in the jar always gets a pub audience going:P. This was also where 18 yr old Martin (no not our very own) got up to sing a song with the band, gave me a chance to take a little break and look at the guys from a listeners point of view which was pretty cool. Cheers to all those who were there and a big shout goes out especially to Tom and his gang and Patrick for all their support. We all had a fun night and hope to rock Leonberg again sometime in the future. Next Stop 13th March, Dubliner Offenburg!
