Velvet STEEL
"Not Easy To Handle"
James Brimble / Rock Rules No.15 / UK v. 09.09.2009
Velvet STEEL are currently one of Germany's most popular touring Rock bands. They have a traditional Blues Hard Rock style (with a vocalist that reminds me of BONFIRE's Claus Lessmann) and their 3rd album - "Not Easy To Handle" - was released on June 10th and in my opinion it is their best yet (although the first two are awesome too)! The CD is available from amazon and other major retail sites.
Velvet STEEL was founded in 1993 and comprises 5 Blues/Rock playin' guys who herald from the Karsfeld/Dachau area near Munich, Germany. To date Velvet STEEL have released 3 albums and 1 CD- single as well as featuring on numerous compilations. The Debut album "Explorer 2205", the original motion picture soundtrack for the TV-science- fiction-movie was released in 2005.
Some of the highlights during 16 years of Velvet STEEL include the nomination for the "German Rock - and Pop Price 1997" for Bavaria; the performance at the "Rock im Circus 97" festival in the "Circus Krone" building, Munich; the tripple jump in the semi-final of the largest European newcomer festival "Emergenze Rock" 1997, 1999 and 2004; as well as numerous other live shows/radio/TV-appearances and CD publications! The 2nd album, published in 2001, was called "Home Of The Brave". In May 2002 they featured on the "stars in sight 4" sampler with their song "Diamond of the Desert", which was a printed edition of 15,000 CDs. One month later this song was also included on the "IDPC Best Of Collection". In early 2003, following a very positive response to their 2nd album, the band were signed by the record label 'Songhouse' and duly recorded their first CD- single, "Whisper in the Night".
The STEELER's then commenced on a successful tour and among other highlights released their new single "Caught in Time" and its associated Music Video. This was recorded at the "Bavaria Filmstudios" in September 2005 and was published on the DVD: "Velvet STEEL - 10th Blues/Rock Anniversary" in a limited edited version with book.
In July 2009 they finally released long awaited 3rd album "Not Easy To Handle". Early responses have been overwhelmingly positive and there are lots of plans in the pipeline to continue to promote it.
